Perfectionism vs particularism

I have been pondering the difference between being perfectionist and being particular.

The former suggests there is no end to the satisfaction of what is achievable (or rather impossible). Goals are unattainable therefore there’s a never-ending quest to reach the ideal. Perfectionism cannot last. Something will come along and mess it up.
